At the UN podium on Thursday, Prime Minister Yair Lapid presented his optimistic vision for the end of the conflict. He openly declared his support for the two-state solution, a term that was considered almost banned by his predecessors in the Prime Minister’s Office in recent years. In an interview with Haaretz ahead of his speech to the UN General Assembly, Lapid called for progress in the diplomatic process, but sounded dubious about the ability to bring it to fruition in the foreseeable future.
