A man in his early 20s was shot to death on Wednesday morning in the northern Arab village of Kafr Qara, raising this year's death toll in Israel's Arab community to 65.

Sa'ad Zeid, 22, was leaving for work when he was shot outside his house, according to his neighbors. Police have launched an investigation into the shooting.

Zeid was unconscious and suffered from a bleeding penetrating wound, according to paramedics, who pronounced him dead on the scene.

Since the beginning of the year, 65 people have been murdered in Israel's Arab community, according to monitoring by Haaretz. The number stood at 70 at this time last year, and amounted to 126 in total in 2021.
